I wanted to let everyone know that I am working hard today. My mind is obviously completely focused on my tasks at hand, and nothing non-work related is going on here today. It's 9:43, and I've already looked at every website possible for my non-work routine. Does anyone else have a list of sites that they have to check every day. Mine probably look a little different than some of yours, but all the same, I've checked them already! Judging by the 2 cars that I passed on 65, I'm pretty sure I'm one of a small percentage of people that are actually working today. Today was one of the days where I didn't even have to scrape my windows before coming in. As long as there was a 3" diameter circle, I was cool since there was no traffic. I was driving like I was looking through my peephole to see which neighbor needed money.
It's New Year's Eve, which by the way has got to be the most overrated night of the year. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited, but I haven't had a blast on a New Year's since my cousin's aunt let us prank call people back in 1990. It's also my Dad's birthday, which has become very hard to remember the last 6 or 7 years. It's an easy birthday to remember, it's just hard to remember to give him a call and send a gift. I'm so lazy, I usually just end up combining Christmas and the B-day. Happy Birthday, Dad! Although, I know for a fact you are one of 25 people that have never even seen the world wide web.
Heading up to Gelo tonight for spirits and conversation. I'm trying to lower my expectations for the evening, and when you're dateless, it's not a hard thing to do. Right now my expectations are at about a 6, which is customary. The good part is the ceiling for the night could be a 10. That' s very unlikely, but there's still room for that. Most nights, the ceiling doesn't get above a 7, so we're working with something now. Anyone doing it real big tonight? No one reading because everyone has the day off? That's what I figured.
A place where I can fine tune my writing skills (or lack there-of) and give you the Bous Theory on what's going on in my life, sports, and the world.

DL Hughley
If you get a chance this weekend, you should head to the Broad Ripple Crackers and check out D.L. Hughley. Hilarious! His opening act, Steve Wilson, was also a good act. $30 is a little pricey for Crackers, but I thought it was well worth it. Not to mention, the chips & salsa only take about 30 minutes upon order.

Just spent $1.40 on V8
Our vending machine at work was actually a very state of the art machine used in World War II. It goes up with a machine-like noise, takes the item, then brings it down, opens up and like magic, you have your item de jour. Today's item for me: a v8. Dreaming of Dunkin' Sticks and a Diet Pepsi, I used my better judgement and thought I'd knock out a v8. I kind of liked my gameplan and thought I was well prepared (had a couple of spare $1 bills). Sure enough, machine goes up, completely jukes me, then comes back down empty handed. I thought I'd try it again; surely it will work the second time. I know what you're thinking at this point..."Don't call me Shirley!" Back to my red bull of vegetable drinks, machine goes up a second time and voila, no v8. I would have gone for round three, but there was a guy sleeping on the couch downstairs and I didn't want to awaken him. I should have gone with the Dunkin' Sticks!

Scumbag Quarterbacks

Good morning to you, Mr. Scumbag Quarterback. You guys know who you are, and you're littering the league like wrappers out the window on the interstate. What happens to litterers on the highway? They're fined. For littering the league, scumbag quarterbacks, you should be fined! You're wondering, Bous, where is this all coming from? I respect the Patriots, I think they're the best team in my lifetime, but I really don't want them to go undefeated! I didn't realize that I didn't want them to go undefeated until the past two weeks when I had to rely on the Eagles and Edgar Allen Poe's Ravens to knock them off their perch. By relying on those two teams it meant I had to rely on A.J. Feely and Kyle Boller.
A.J. Feely has been garbage since he landed in the league (thus the role of backup/sometimes 3rd string QB). He begins by playing the game of his life (a fools gold momemnt for Philly fans) and has his team in position to either win or be in pretty good control, and the real A.J. Feely shows up. When he was driving down the field throwing TD's, you just had the feeling like YEAH this is great, but it IS AJ Feely. Kind of like kissing your sister. A kiss is a wonderful thing, but match that with your sister, not so great. In true Feely fashion, he throws a Polock TD right to Asante Samuel ending all hopes for a Patriot loss.
Last night, I'm stuck with Kyle Boller and the entire scumbag Raven offense. Anemic truly doesn't even describe how much the Ravens offense has held that team down for many years. Than ran into some poor talent in the NFL the year they won the Super Bowl, or they would have been shut out for the decade. Anyway, Boller and the Ravens give us a great fools gold first half. Tied at 10, keeps ratings up, and gets me awake later then I need to be. McGahee is on a mission out of the half and leads the Ravens to a 17-10 lead. Fast forward to 24-17, Ravens ball on the Patriot 30, looking to go up two scores if they can gain about five yards for a Stover field goal. What does scumbag do? He throws a polock touchdown right to a guy named Sanders. A mix between Colonel and Deion. Right there, I should have quit watching. I knew it, Kyle Boller had fooled me like so many scumbag QB's before. But in true pyrite fashion, I keep watching. Drive after drive where the Ravens can't gain a yard. No first downs in the final 10 minutes. Brutal, absolutely brutal to watch! Then it comes, 4th and 1, game hinging on a play. Ball is snapped, Brady tries the sneak, and is stuffed by Ray Lewis. Whistles come flying, timeout Ravens! Should have stopped watching right there. Try it again. Ravens stop it, but there was some movement. 4th and 6. Pressure on Brady, he scrambles for the first down. 1st and 10. Gets to be 4th and 5 with a minute + left. Brady to the endzone...incomplete! Ravens should win! Nope, defensive holding call. At that point, I knew; game over. I was right, HOWEVER, the best part of the game was Kyle Boller throwing the Hail Mary. Boller was known coming into the draft that he could throw the ball something like 65 yards from his knees through the uprights. He finally got to use that skill in the a real game, folks. We've got a new Michael Bishop!
So scumbag quarterbacks please stop fooling your fans, again you know who you are...Alex Smith, John Beck, Tampa's threesome, Carolina's #1s, JaMarcus Russell, Eli Manning, the list goes on and on.

The Weekend Update

Another weekend came through, and another weekend passed. Butler beat Ohio State pretty badly in the 2nd half, Indiana beat Southern Illinois pretty badly throughout, Indiana football is headed to the Insight Bowl versus Oklahoma State, and I survived a trip to Martinsville High School!
The weather played a pretty vital role in my unproductivity this weekend. Friday night, I went to my favorite high school, North Central, to watch them play (and beat) Broad Ripple. Picked up a couple of 6ers and headed to Ansu Sesay's for a round of Jenga, Catchphrase, and conversation. I've gotta say, Jenga is quite the overrated game. We've played it a few times now and it's something you can't really play more than once per night. You always get riskier in the 2nd game and someone leaves it where's there no real way to get it any higher than the previous round. Catchphrase is usually a success and was again on Friday. The best part about Catchphrase is all the commotion that goes along with it. There are many times when answers are answered, yet no one hears it. It can get frustrating! There needs to be a judge like Wink Martindale or something.
Not as much detail, but Saturday and Sunday were spent watching high school basketball, heading to BW's, going to a Butler house party, watching the Colts, coming in to work, and chillin' really hard.
I was informed that I will not be doing a blog on theindychannel.com today. That being said, I've been given another opportunity that I think could actually work out even better. I will be providing the Hot 6 Games of the Week each week, which will get promoted on Wednesdays. I will then venture out to one a week, and possibly get the chance to write about it. Anything is a good start, so I'm pretty pumped about it. 12 Days til the big wedding. Not mine of course, but I am counting down!
