The "Where to Eat" Debate

Hilary vs. Barack, James Carville vs Tucker Carlson, James Carville vs Will Ferrell, Denzel Washington's new debate movie crew vs the world, Lincoln vs Douglas, the list could go on and on. I'm going to get into one that's been brewing every single day around this same time. It's the where to eat? debate with my stomach squaring off against my brain. There are days in which decisions are locked in (set lunch meetings, dates, etc.), days that there's a clear-cut winner (for me, this usually involves Mexican food), and days where the debate can last so long that the guy involved writes a whole blog about it while trying to decide.

Right around 11am, my stomach will make some opening remarks. Usually a growl, sometimes inwards, sometimes outwards. Generally my brain responds with a shut down tactic that is almost like an animal playing dead. Productivity is automatically decreased during this time to a near minimal. The stomach usually wins this portion of the debate. In fact, the stomach has been winning this debate for what seems like a year. It just loves testing out new restaurants or sticking with old faithful; Mexican. Yesterday, the brain got the victory with a Lean Pocket and fruit meal at the house. Money was saved, health was re-stored, but for a creative person it just seemed kind of boring.

The debates I mentioned above all pretty much either happened once, or maybe 2 to 3 times. That's how it should be; debate, make a decision, move on. I'm not sure I'll ever rid this seemingly endless Where to Eat debate. It definitely dominates the noon hour.

This twenty minutes I spent typing this blog actually helped me make a decision. I'll make a compromise (always an option) and head to When Eddie Met Salads. It has the appearance of being healthy (for my brain), but really is just as bad as anywhere if I get the Buffalo Chicken one (fulfills me). It's basically like finding a $100 bill with some doo-doo on it. Yeah, it's a $100 bill, but................

Spring is in the air

I love spring. I can't believe how quickly it came this year. It only took 6 days! The sports equivalent of what took place in the past two days would be like this:

There's an NBA expansion team full of unsigned rookies and non-talented veterans. They play in a city that never really has its hopes up for teams, let's just say New Orleans. They start the year with 5 straight victories, including 3 over playoffs teams from last year, and one over the defending champs. They don't win another game until the end of March. That's about how I feel right now. The rain is really coming down today (the equivalent of a 4th quarter collapse) and the cold weather will be back late tonight (blew the 16 point lead, lose on a buzzer beater).

I retired my winter coat for a couple of days, but had to relinquish it today as I filled air into my tire. Got completely soaked and looked like a broke-ass salesman. Honestly, I looked like a kid that got roped in to door to door lawn care sales and had another 0-fer day. My confidence was shot and I don't even think the air machine worked. Why do i think this? Here was my conversation with the girl at BP....

Bous: (dollar in hand) Can I get change for the air machine?

BP Lady: I'll just go ahead and turn it on for ya. That thing ain't been working all week.

Bous: (in my head) Sweet! Hopefully I can stand in the rain to make sure!

(Here's me with my sweet ride and new glasses)
