That John Denver not so full of S*!&

Okay, I know I know. I pledged the Yankees as my squad for the upcoming playoffs. When I stated that, I believed the Rockies to be done as they were about 4 out with over a week to go. Did anyone catch that game last night? WOW! That's really all I can say. It was the most fun I've had watching a baseball game since college (It helped having others to watch with, plus there were great series. Subway Series, Yanks/D'Backs, Giants/Angels, Yanks/Marlins). That being said, last night was awesome.

To backtrack on my liking of the Rockies, I will take you back to the summer of 2002 in which I spent the summer working for this Wild Card Champion team. It was then that I got to shoot the bull with Juan Pierre (still my favorite player), Juan Uribe, Mike Hampton, Todd Hollandsworth, Scott Elarton, Todd Helton, Clint Hurdle, etc. The only constants are Helton and Hurdle, but the youth and spirit on this team is incredibly contagious. On my birthday back in June, we were having cake at work and everyone asked what I was going to do that night. My reply? "Probably relax after work and watch the Rockies game." I got to know the names Tulowitzki, Hawpe, Holliday, Francis, and Corpas. I probably tuned in to 25-30 Rockies games from April-June as it took me back to the summer of '02. I pictured myself working the players entrance saying what's up to those guys and it pumped me up.

Anyway, I've got stories that would fill this blog for months, but I had to comment on my sudden "change" in allegiance. I didn't really change, I just thought the Reds and Rox were done for. Apparently, I was wrong. Call me "fairweather" or whatever you want, but I've been down since '02 and will continue to be. Denver, here I come!
