Sure enough, FNL got me again! Finally had to shut it off at 2am which is a little ridiculous. There were just too many feel good moments to shut it off anytime before that. Part of my duties in this business is to view a lot of television, which I've gotta say, I don't mind a bit! I've taken an interest in watching broadcast television, which I can't say I did a whole lot of two or three years ago. Here's a rundown of what I'm viewing. If you're bored on a weeknight, this may help you:
Monday- 8pm Chuck on NBC, Monday Night Football on ESPN (if they would ever schedule decent games. Giants-Falcons are you serious?), Weeds and Californication on Showtime, random surfing
Tuesday- Quite easily the worst night of the week for TV. The only thing I make a plan to watch or DVR is Boston Legal on WRTV-6. If there were a couple of just "decent" shows on this night, it could shoot into the top 3. Boston Legal could be one of the best written shows on television. Oustanding!
Wednesday- Pushing Daisies on WRTV6. When I had the pilot, I didn't think it would stand a chance in my weekly schedule. I gotta say though, it's a great show and like nothing else on TV. The graphics are great and the humor is hidden, which is the way I like it. Not big at all on Private Practice, but I don't think I fit their demo anyway. Dirty, Sexy, Money is pretty decent, but I've got to catch up at some point on DVR. Both of those of course are also on RTV6.
Thursday-I definitely tune in to NBC to watch My Name is Earl and the Office. Both are easy going and set the tone for Thursday nights. I'm not sure if Scrubs is coming back, but it adds so much power to that lineup. Fell in love with the show a couple of seasons ago. It's also now syndicated on about 14 channels on my current cable system. Grey's Anatomy on RTV6 is pretty good. I can't say that I would watch it if I didn't work where I do, but it's got some lovey-dovey storylines that make you feel good each Thursday night. Thursday's have also become a big night for college football on ESPN. With the SEC, ACC, and Big East having deals for Thursday games, chances are you're going to witness a pretty good one.
Friday- Friday Night Lights. that's all i gotta say. Not much else. Remember back in the day when Friday's were off the hook? TGIF? Full House, Family Matters, wow! Actually remember when Tuesdays were off the hook with Full House AND Rescue 911? That show sometimes turned me into a hypochondriac, but still was great at its peak.
Saturday-College football. all day long.
Sunday-NFL, not as much as college, but can't deny I love to tune in. 60 Minutes is usually pretty good with interesting interviews/stories. A lot of people dislike Sunday Night Football, but for some reason, I like the coverage. maybe it's just the music? Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO is hilarious and comes on at 10. If I had a girlfriend, I'd probably watch Extreme Home Makeover, Desperate Housewives, and Brothers & Sisters. Am I lucky to not have a girlfriend or not? you make the call. Fox has a good Sunday lineup, but for whatever reason, I never watch it. As I am writing this, I still can't tell you why. I'll update Sundays next week. By the way, Arrested Development was maybe one of the best shows ever on Sunday nights. It's too bad most people didn't get it!
That's it in a nutshell. A little sloppy, and a little all over the place but that's the life I live. You're probably thinking, "wow, that's a lot of television!" Again, after looking back, you're right. Maybe I'll find a girlfriend tonight!
