I purchased season 1 of Friday Night Lights last night for $15 which is basically a steal. I barely watched the first season last year, taking in about 4 of the last 5 episodes. Once April hit, I couldn't believe that I didn't watch the entire season. It's not something that's too tough to catch up on, but I figured I'd take in the whole season anyway. I know the Sports Guy Bill Simmons wrote an article on ESPN.com about this show, and he's pretty dead-on with everything he said.
For $0.68 an episode, I'd say it's well worth it. There are great looking girls in Tyra and Lyla (Not only do they rhyme, but they're picture above), football, egos, and high school/town drama! Lyla dunked Tyra's ex-boyfriend Riggins and Tyra dunks what seems like the entire backfield of the Dillon Panthers. All kinds of drama, but it's done in a realistic way. There are affairs, Katrina victims transferring in, Mack Brown cameos, and by being on NBC, a couple of "Bull-Cruds!" To me, everything seems realistic which is usually the struggle in shows like these. Whether these kids ever graduate is up in the air, but I'm enjoying it while I can. There's rumors that it will be cancelled. It's now on Friday's (Imagine that!) at 9pm right after Bobby's World, err I mean Deal or No Deal. If you stay in on a Friday night or have invested in DVR, I'm pretty sure this is must see TV. Buy Season 1 for $0.68 an episode, get caught up, and then tune in each Friday at 9pm. We can start having Oprah-type tv clubs each week on The BousBlog. I'm already giddy!

Hey Chad, did you watch the first episode of season 2? Marcia will tell you I'm a huge fan of FNL, been with it since the start, but w/o giving anything away, I was a little disappointed in the ending on this first episode. But in any event, season 1 stands alone as one of the best TV seasons I've seen and I've watched a ton. No love for Julie Taylor. She plays 16 on TV, but she's definitely legal. On a side note, one of Jessica's best friend went on a date with the real Matt Saracen. Good times. One last thing: any plans for Saturday's big clash with the Spartans? I know some of my boys and I plan to watch somewhere. Let me know what your plans are if you have any. Later.
